Day 7: Building and Maintaining Momentum

Welcome to the final day of our Finding Clarity 7-Day Challenge! Today is all about taking action and maintaining your energy and enthusiasm well into the future.

Taking action is the key to building and maintaining momentum. It’s the starting point that sets everything in motion. Without action, there is no momentum; without momentum, there is no forward movement.

Starting is often the most difficult part of any journey. Fear, doubt, and uncertainty can creep in, leading to hesitation and procrastination. This is where taking the first step becomes crucial, no matter how small. Taking action – no matter how small — will help you overcome obstacles and build momentum toward achieving your goals.

To help you take action and build momentum, continually revisit these 11 strategies:

: “Repetition is the mother of learning, the father of action, which makes it the architect of accomplishment

Strategy #1: Connect with Your Why

Understanding your motivation and goals enables you to stay committed to achieving them. First, ask yourself, what is it that truly inspires you? Then, take the time to reflect on what matters to you. Connecting with your WHY will sustain your drive and passion.

Strategy #2: Visualize Your Success

Visualizing success with CLARITY is incredibly inspiring and helps you build momentum. Take some time to picture the goals you want to achieve and the feeling of accomplishment that comes with it. Let visualization be a source of motivation.

Strategy #3: Set Meaningful Goals

Setting meaningful goals ensures your goals align with your values and priorities and truly resonate with you. When working towards something that matters to you, staying inspired to take consistent action is easier.

Strategy #4: Create Small Steps

Large goals are overwhelming, and it’s easy to get stuck in analysis paralysis. Instead, break down your goals into smaller, more manageable steps to avoid this. This will help you focus on the immediate task rather than getting bogged down by the bigger picture.

 Strategy #5: Set Deadlines

Establish a timeline and make sure you commit to that timeline. Doing so will help you make progress and accomplish your goals. Make sure the targets you set are realistic.

Strategy #6: Create a Plan

Your plan should outline the steps you need to take to achieve your goals. Be as specific as possible, and break down your plan into smaller, more manageable tasks keeping you on track and avoiding feeling overwhelmed.

Strategy #7: Start Small

There is a ton of information around the internet urging everyone to THINK BIG. That may be a good idea, BUT personal experience on my journey to Success followed the advice to Start Small to help you conquer the anxiety you may be feeling. Doing so will also help you build momentum toward achieving your goals. Don’t fear taking that first step, no matter how insignificant it may seem. After that, keep going, taking one step at a time.

Strategy #8: Get Started

It’s understandable why the beginning is usually the hardest. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed or scared to fail. But don’t agonize over having it all worked out beforehand. Instead, take action and rely on your intuition to guide you through.

Strategy #9: Be Consistent

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle

To get any traction, staying consistent is necessary. Doing something every day, even if it’s just a tiny bit, will help to build momentum and move you towards your desired outcome.

Strategy #10: Find Support

Having a support system is incredibly helpful when it comes to building momentum. Associate with people who believe in you and your goals and will support and encourage you. This keeps you motivated to keep doing things even when it’s tough.

Strategy #11: Stay Motivated

Staying motivated is challenging, especially when slow progress or setbacks occur. Stay motivated by focusing on progress and celebrating it.

Try to understand that building momentum takes time. There will be setbacks and challenges. Embrace the journey, and focus on your progress, no matter how small. When you find joy and fulfillment, staying motivated and building momentum toward achieving your goals is easier.

Day 7 Finding Clarity Exercise: Building & Maintaining Momentum

Motivation is especially important when you encounter obstacles or challenges that make it difficult to keep on your path.

To build momentum, try the following:

  1. Clearly Identify your sources of motivation – Jot down what motivates you and what keeps you going when things get tough. It could be a personal goal, a sense of purpose or passion, or the desire to achieve something meaningful. Write down these sources of motivation. Then, keep each source in mind as you work towards success.
  2. Create a support system — Building a support system includes connecting with friends, family members, or colleagues who want to offer encouragement and support to you as you work towards your goals. Consider sharing your goal and action plan with them and asking for their help in staying accountable.
  3. Set up regular check-ins — Checking in on your progress requires scheduling regular meetings with a mentor, coach, or accountability partner or setting aside time each week to review your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your plan.
  4. Celebrate your successes — Celebrating your successes, no matter how small builds your momentum by teaching your brain to realize you are successful already. Acknowledge and celebrate your progress as you work towards your goal.

So, there you have it! Over the past week, we explored some powerful concepts and strategies to help you CLARIFY what success looks like to you, identify and overcome potential roadblocks, turn your ideas into achievable goals, create a solid action plan to achieve them, and make the right choices to achieve long-term success.

We’ve covered a lot of ground. So, take a few moments to congratulate yourself for getting this far. Then commit yourself to take committed action on the plans and goals you’ve created here and let that excitement carry you far into the future!
